MSF, as a registered non-State actor with the WHO, expresses our strong concerns on the proposal put forward to supposedly improve NSA’s role, voice and contribution in WHO’s governing system. The proposal fails to acknowledge the true added value of diversity and the expertise inherent in the varied nature of NSAs. The creation of a global constituency and the grouping of NSA statements risks diluting NSAs voice and limiting their meaningful participation in the dialogues and in finding solutions to current health challenges.
MSF joins others in highlighting concerns as expressed in the Joint CSO Letter to WHO Executive Board that has been signed by 50 Organizations and calls once more on the WHO and Member States to review their decision until satisfactory proposals for a way-forward are on the table and a clear consensus is reached. MSF will continue to participate actively in the consultation process should it be extended.
